Werdenfels Museum
In 1895 the Werdenfels Museum was evolved from a private collection. Since 1973 the Museum is located in a former 17th century grocer house - a historical building in original condition. This house was the only building in the Partenkirchner Ludwig Street, which remained exempted from the fire in 1865.
The Werdenfels Museum is one of the most beautiful museum in Bavaria. It refelcts the history and the culture of the Werdenfels county. Until the secularisation in 1802 this geographical market was an independent earldom of the Freising princedom for 700 years and was from time immemorial an important connection between Bavaria, Tyrol and Italy.
Evidences of this period are shown in the Werdenfels Museum. It verifies a rich culture on various level´s: from highly advanced sacral object to simple object of rural folk culture. The musem collection gives impression about life and work long gone, also about customs as well as the aristic sense of the population.
Aschenbrenner Endowment
The collection of Marianne Aschenbrenner consists of 202 valuable German and French dolls from the 19th and 20th centuries, most of which are in perfect, original condition.
The collection also contains many pieces of china from leading German porcelain manufacturers of the 18th century, of which Meissen is the oldest and most famous example. Porcelain figurines are the focal point of this china collection. Be sure to look for the late baroque sculptures by Johann Joachim Kaendler (1706-1775) which truly are masterpieces of this art form.
Permanent exhibition at the Aschenbrenner Museum, Loisachstrasse 44.
